5th Launch Conference of the Manifesto for a Global Democracy, Amphithéâtre Jacques Chapsal, Sciences Po, January, Paris. The panel included Mr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, former UN Secretary General; Mr. Pascal Lamy, former director of the WTO; and Professors Bertrand Badie (Sciences Po), Fernando Iglesias (Spinelli Chair (CUIA), Alain Touraine (École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales) and Heikki Patomäki (University of Helsinki). The discussion focused on the need to offer global answers to the economic, ecological, demographic and nuclear proliferation crises, among others, that have transcended national and regional borders; the democratic character that the institutions in charge of their management and resolution should assume, starting with the UN and its agencies, was also discussed.

Meeting with Ariel Colonomos, Sciences Po, Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches Internationales (CNRS),January, Paris, France. The meeting was about the Manifesto for Global Democracy and the project to create a Latin American Criminal Court against Transnational Organized Crime.

Meeting with LIBERA-Italy,an organization that is focused on the fight against organized crime in Italy and the construction of citizen network to combat the Mafia, who expressed their total support in the COPLA initiative, and their willingness to cooperate with it.

Meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy, Dr. Emma Bonino, who expressed her enthusiastic support for the COPLA project, and requested that the future need to globalize the resulting institution be taken into account in the drafting of the Statute.

6th Launch Conference of the Manifesto for a GLOBAL DEMOCRACY, Vahna Yioppilastalo at the University of Helsinki in Finland. On this occasion the launch was carried out by three of its signers: Heikki Patomaki (University of Helsinki); Teivo Teivainen (University of Helsinki and University of the State of Rio de Janeiro) and Fernando Iglesias. There was a great call and questions were opened to the public.

"A Dialogue on Democracy and Globalization", on April 24, in the framework of the 40th Book Fair, Professor Fernando Iglesias interviewed the academic David Held who, in addition to giving an excellent dissertation, answered questions from the public and this achieved an enriching debate.

The Italian Interuniversity Consortium for Argentina (CUIA) held its sixth edition of the CUIA Conference in Argentina. Prestigious delegations of Italian and Argentine academics and researchers from the Universities associated with CUIA participated. The main objective was to promote and reinforce the inter-university network between Italy and Argentina, highlighting the academic and scientific collaborations within the framework of the CUIA co-financing programs through the articulation of activities in thematic sessions that refer to the Schools of Senior Studies of the Consortium. Fernando Iglesias participated in the Master Level Training Course Module in European Studies for Latin America (EURAL): Regionalism as an instrument for development and cooperation between States.

Meeting with Professor Glossop, July, Buenos Aires. Member of the World Federalist Movement (MFM), professor of philosophy at the University of Southern Illinois located in Edwardsville (United States) and a preservative of the Esperanto language. The meeting between Sr. Glossop and Fernando Iglesias took place in the offices of Global Democracy, in which they discussed the status of the World Federalist Movement,as well as the federalist problems that surround american and european economic crisis.

International dissemination of the COPLA creation campaign, August. Professor Fernando Iglesias, coordinator of the project on behalf of Democracia Global, made a trip to three Latin American countries: Peru, Colombia and Chile. The objective was to make the project known in these countries and to discuss the best strategy for its implementation with citizens and organizations in these countries

30th International Seminar "Federalism in Europe and in the World", September, Ventotene - (Italy). Participation of the executive coordinator of Global Democracy, Camila López Badra and professor Fernando Iglesias, who was part of two panels. "The European Union and regional unification processes: Africa, Middle East, South America, ASEAN", with the participation of Simri Zameret (Movement for Global Justice), and James A. Williams (WFM Executive Committee). The second participation was in the panel "The Commitment to Global Democracy: a campaign for a Parliamentary Assembly of the United Nations" with Pier Virgilio Dastoli (President of the Italian chapter of the European Movement), and Daniele Archibugi (adviser to the EU, the OECD and the UN). Special guests who also participated in the meeting: Fabrizio Saccomanni (Minister of Economy) and Josep Borrel (former President of the European Parliament).

The conference was attended by Raúl Meroi, president of the Rosario Stock Exchange; Raúl Lamberto, minister of Security of the province of Santa Fe; Julio Cobos, national deputy and former vice president of Argentina; Adolfo Rodríguez Saá, former president of Argentina; Elisa Carrió, national deputy and candidate for the national presidency; Hermes Binner, former governor of Santa Fe and national deputy; Miguel Ángel Cortés, deputy for Valladolid, Spain; and Ernesto Sanz, national senator and candidate for the national presidency, among others.

VI Spinelli Symposium, "Regional integration in a globalized world", October, Buenos Aires. Global Democracy, the Spinelli Chair and the Italian University Consortium for Argentina organized the event. Three days of conferences and panels were held in Buenos Aires, in the historic “La Prensa” building and the headquarters of the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires. The event had the support of the Ministry of Culture of GCBA, the European Union, the embassies of Spain and Italy, the Naumann Stiftung Foundation, the Italian Institute of Culture, the Argentine Society of Political Analysis (SAAP), the UB Cátedra Unión Europea , the University of Belgrano and UCES.
